Team Fortress 2 “Meet the Engineer”

Hey, look buddy. I’m an engineer. That means I solve problems.
Not problems like, “What is beauty?,” because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of ‘philosophy’.
I solve practical problems.
For instance,
how am I gonna stop some big, mean mother hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous new behind?
The answer: Use a gun. And if that don’t work? Use more gun.
My arm!
Like this heavy caliber tripod-mounted little old number designed by me, built by me,
and you best hope… not pointed at you.

purview [within/outside the purview of somebody/something] – [formal] within or outside the limits of someone’s job, activity, or knowledge:
This matter comes within the purview of the Department of Health. (в компетенции, в рамках)
conundrum – a confusing and difficult problem:
the conundrum of our purpose on earth (загадка, головоломка)
mean – cruel or not kind:
That was a mean thing to do. (подлый)
Old Mother Hubbard – a character in a nursery rhyme (=an old song or poem for young children). The rhyme goes:
Old Mother Hubbard
Went to the cupboard
To get her poor dog a bone;
But when she came there
The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none.
The expression ‘the cupboard is bare’ is sometimes used about a situation in which a person, organization, or government has no money left.
mother hubbard – An unoffensive substitute/variation for mother f*cker. Can be used when addressing children.
Little John, you mother hubbard, give me back my barbie doll or I’ll skull f*ck you with a GI Joe!
structurally superfluous – ? структурно излишний ?
behind – [informal] the part of your body that you sit on [= bottom]
tripod-mounted – установленный на треноге

Кстати, у инженера – техасский акцент.
